The short version: your words are yours. WordHaul has no accounts and no servers of its own, collects no analytics, shows no ads, and uses no trackers. Everything below is just that promise, spelled out.
Where your words live
Your word bank — words, definitions, examples, tags, sources, recall history and settings — is stored on your device. When private iCloud sync ships, it will also be stored in your personal iCloud account, encrypted and managed by Apple, where we cannot see it. WordHaul has no accounts and no servers, so we never see your words.
Dictionary lookups
When a word is saved, WordHaul sends only the word itself to Merriam-Webster's dictionary service to fetch its definition, pronunciation and etymology. Your sources, page URLs, tags, notes and reading habits are never sent to anyone. Merriam-Webster's own privacy policy governs their service.
No analytics, no ads, no tracking
WordHaul contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising, and no third-party trackers. This website sets no cookies and runs no trackers either.
Notifications
Word reminders are local notifications, created and delivered entirely on your device. Whether previews appear on your lock screen follows your iOS notification settings.
Export and deletion
You can export your entire word bank as a JSON file at any time (Settings → Export words), and you can permanently delete all WordHaul data from your device with a two-step confirmation (Settings → Delete all data). There is no server copy to chase down — deleting it on your device deletes it.
Children
WordHaul does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, children included — because it doesn't collect personal information at all.
Changes
If this policy ever changes in a way that matters, the change will be visible here with a new effective date — and the promise at the top is the part that won't change.
